Private Vocal Instruction
In addition to our twice-yearly Junior Musical productions and the Shining Stars Summer Camp at Lakewood Center for the Arts, we are excited to now offer Private Vocal Instruction!
We are rolling out our theater education programs one by one to ensure quality and consistency. Please stay tuned for group voice and acting classes, clinics, and open-enrollment theater classes.

More Than Just Singing Lessons
Whether you’re wanting to learn how to bring down the house in the final number of a musical, or you need help with projecting during your Shakespeare Tragedy, private lessons are a great way to get individualized instruction that’s tailored to your learning style, goals, and preferred pace.
In addition to stage singing, you can also dive into subjects like healthy and effective projection for stage acting, creating character voices, audition prep and strategies, posture and movement for the stage (made possible by our extra large lesson rooms!), how to read and select sheet music for auditions, and ear training for blending and harmonizing with large ensembles.
All private students get these perks:
*Makeup lessons are an available option when proper advance notice is given in accordance with the cancellation policy.

Meet the Teacher
Melody Knox
Melody is a vocal instructor who specializes in Musical Theater singing and Stage Acting, though she also uses her studies of rock, pop, folk, and classical to diversify her students’ skillsets, which ultimately helps them land more roles.
Melody runs her lessons based on her philosophy of taking a student-led approach to learning: it all takes shape in a sandbox full of possibilities and endless combinations of skills, genres, and quirky tricks the student will find as they lead the way through their own musical journey. All encouraged to be done with a smirk and a wink at life, of course.
