Meet the Teachers

Melody Knox, Co-Founder & Music Director
Vocal Music, Voice Training for Stage Acting, Piano, Flute
Melody has been proud to call Oregon home for nearly 10 years. Originally from New Jersey, she grew up just a short train ride away from both New York City and Philadelphia– two cities that are booming with the performing arts.
“I spent my primary school years from 4th grade to 12th grade immersed in both instrumental and vocal music, only made possible by the sheer determination of my public school music teachers to provide classes such as concert band, jazz band, marching band, concert choir, multiple advanced choirs for select students, and of course, playing in the pit orchestra or being part of the cast for the yearly Spring musical.
Naturally, this all led to me wanting to become a music teacher myself. I studied Music Education at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA before shipping off to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in search of a place to finally put down roots in early 2016.
I have been teaching music for 9 years and am repeatedly blown away by the talent and drive for genuine human connection I have seen from my students here in Oregon. When I ask my students why they keep studying with me, they tell me it’s because I’m flexible, laid back, non-judgmental, easy to talk to, determined to give you the metaphor that really clicks in your brain, affirming of the LGBTQ+ community, and am an emotionally trustworthy adult in their lives.”
If you’re looking for a teacher whose top priority is guiding young people to become strong and principled citizens of the world through the ancient, universal, and powerful medium of music, then you’ve found her.
